Where combination locks actually fail
What decides it
Thieves are not the problem. The code-setting mechanism is, and when it fails the lock stays shut on your own bag.
The faults that repeat in the verified India reviews:
- DOCOSS-116 — dials too stiff to turn, and the factory 0000 code sometimes will not open it.
- DOCOSS-203 — the reset button is hard to press. Several buyers cut the cable off their own bag.

At least three verified India buyers report it about the DOCOSS Brass TSA Key Lock. One found either key opened both locks. Another says any key of that model opens them all. So a stranger with the same lock may be able to open your bag. That is why it ranks ninth.

For domestic travel, the Godrej My Lock Candy at ₹237. It is a key lock with a 1-year warranty, so there is no code to jam. For a TSA lock, the Street27 at ₹366 is one light lock with an inspection indicator. The EzLife pair at ₹425 is the cheapest verified TSA option, at ₹213 a lock.
Are TSA locks actually secure?
Not against a determined thief. Every TSA lock opens with a master key, and printed copies of those keys opened a lock in 2015. A TSA lock is a deterrent and a way to spot tampering. Its real value is that screeners on some international routes open it instead of cutting it off.
Do I need a TSA lock for flights within India?
No. India is not on Travel Sentry's list of countries that use the system. A TSA lock gives you no advantage on a domestic flight, and it still carries the master-key weakness. For domestic travel, a well-built ordinary lock like the Godrej is the better buy.
Should I buy a combination lock or a key lock?
