Best Overnighter Trolley Bags in India (2026)

Two price bands, fifteen overnighter trolley bags — what ₹5,000 and ₹10,000 actually buy, and why the extra money buys a heavier bag, not a better one.

Quick answer

Which overnighter trolley bag should you buy in India?

Shop under ₹5,000. That is where this category is dense and where the buyer evidence sits. The best overnighter on this page at any price is The Assembly Stark Pro, at ₹4,999. The best bag above ₹5,000 scores below the fourth-placed bag below it.

  • Under ₹5,000 — nine bags, and the two cleanest handle records in the whole category
  • ₹5,000 to ₹10,000 — six bags, and three of them rest on four India reviews or fewer
  • Empty weight — the bags get heavier as they get dearer, and that comes off your 7 kg

An overnighter is a wheeled case for one or two nights. It stands 38 to 48 cm tall and holds 20 to 45 litres, and it almost always carries a padded laptop pocket. That pocket is the point of the shape. It is the bag for the trip a 55 cm cabin case is too big for.

This page is the map, not the shortlist. The full rankings live on the two band pages below — fifteen bags with review evidence, pros, cons and scores.

The unusual thing about this category is where the good bags are. Almost every other category on this site improves as you spend more. This one does not. If you want the rest of the background — shells, wheels, zips and locks — the luggage buying guide has it in one place.

Which price band are you shopping in?

Each band scores its own field against its own weights, because what decides a ₹2,999 bag is not what decides a ₹9,499 one.

  • Under ₹5,000

9 overnighter trolley bags under ₹5,000 compared, ₹2,999 to ₹4,999 — ranked on the handle that actually breaks, the shell, the wheels and a claimable warranty.

  • Under ₹10,000

6 overnighter trolley bags from ₹5,625 to ₹9,499 compared — which have real Indian review evidence behind them, which do not, and what the extra money buys.

What under ₹5,000 gets you

Nine bags, and one brand makes five of them. This is the dense end of the category. Three of these listings carry a hundred or more verified India reviews. It is also where the two cleanest handle records sit, on a pair of ₹3,449 hard-shells. What you do not get is a service network. Only one brand here publishes a warranty page you can read before you buy.

The only bag in fifteen with polycarbonate confirmed in its spec table and a TSA lock. Across 28 verified India reviews there is not one wheel complaint and no broken handle. It holds 42 litres, more than anything below ₹5,000 and more than four of the six bags above it. The catch is 3.0 kg.

  • No wheel complaint and no handle failure across 28 verified India reviews
  • 42 litres, more than four of the six bags in the band above it
  • 3 years international and domestic, the clearest published terms in either band

What ₹5,000 to ₹10,000 gets you

Six bags, and a thin shelf. Above ₹5,000 the big brands put their money into 55 cm cabin cases. More than thirty listings here were cut for measuring 52 cm or more. What survives is mostly new. Three of the six rest on four India reviews or fewer, and one on a single review. You are buying a spec sheet and a service network, not a track record.

Mokobara Transit Cabin Overnighter 45 cm

The best-evidenced bag above ₹5,000, handle aside

Mokobara Transit Cabin Overnighter 45 cm
₹6,999Check Price

The strongest bag in its band on shell, wheels, lock and layout, with 62 verified India reviews behind it. Its front pocket takes a 15.6-inch laptop, an iPad and a charger without opening the case. Two things temper it. Four buyers report the handle breaking or jamming. And at 117 cm added up it is over the limit some airlines apply.

  • 62 verified India reviews, the deepest evidence base in its band
  • Zero wheel complaints across all 62, on eight silent-run spinner wheels
  • The only keyless TSA lock in either band

Spending more buys a heavier bag

Sorted by band and read down the last column, the fifteen bags make a point neither band page can make on its own. Empty weight is what the case costs you before you pack it, out of a 7 kg cabin allowance. It does not stay flat as the price climbs. It rises.

Six of the nine bags under ₹5,000 weigh 2.5 kg or less. Above ₹5,000, only one does. Three of those five weigh 3.49 kg or more, and only one bag in the whole budget band matches that.

Capacity does not climb to make up for it. The largest bag under ₹5,000 holds 42 litres for ₹4,999. The cheapest bag above ₹5,000 holds 34 litres for ₹5,625.

Where a buyer put the bag on a scale and the listing disagreed, the measured figure is the one in the table. Two of them are badly out. One case is listed at 1.9 kg and weighs 2.4 to 2.6 kg. Another is listed at 1.5 kg and weighs 2.6 kg.

One bag is missing from the table. The Tommy Hilfiger Orlean's Item Weight row reads "2.7 Grams", and nobody has weighed it, so there is no figure to draw.

What the extra money does buy is a better lock and a better shell. The keyless TSA lock and the German-made polycarbonate are both in the upper band. Whether that is worth a kilo of your allowance depends on whether you fly or drive.

Warranty does not follow the price ladder either. The Assembly gives three years, at home and abroad, on hard luggage at ₹4,999. Mokobara gives six years on most of its range. But its own page puts the Transit line on three. One ₹8,529 bag has a single year. One ₹6,049 bag has a warranty row that reads "no warranty".

Every figure here comes from Amazon.in spec tables, brand warranty pages and recent verified India reviews. One bag is the exception. Assembly sent us the Stark Pro, and we measured and photographed it in hand. Each band page scores its own field and publishes the weights it used.

Flying with it? Check the size rules first

Most airlines cap the three sides added together, not just the height. One bag on this page fails that at 117 cm. Our guide has the published limits from all five major Indian carriers.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best overnighter trolley bag in India?

The Assembly Stark Pro Cabin Overnighter 42 cm, at ₹4,999. It scores highest of the fifteen bags across both bands. It is the only one with a hard shell confirmed in its spec table and a TSA lock. Not one of its 28 India buyers reports a broken wheel or handle. It holds 42 litres, more than four of the six bags in the band above it.

How much should you spend on an overnighter in India?

Between ₹3,400 and ₹5,000. That band holds nine bags, three of them with a hundred or more India reviews. Above ₹5,000 the shelf thins out fast, and three of the six bags there rest on four reviews or fewer. The step up buys a better lock and a better shell. It does not buy a better handle, and it costs you weight.

What is an overnighter, and how is it different from a cabin bag?

An overnighter is 38 to 48 cm tall and holds 20 to 45 litres. A cabin bag is 55 cm and holds 55 to 65 litres. The smaller shape is built for one or two nights plus a laptop, and it slides into a busy overhead bin. Sellers attach the word to 55 cm cases to catch the search, so read the Size row rather than the title.

What actually breaks on these bags?

The telescopic pull handle, by a wide margin. Across all fifteen bags here, handle failure outnumbers shell and wheel failure combined. It does not improve with price either. The two cleanest handle records in the whole set belong to a pair of ₹3,449 cases. The dearest bag on this page has four buyers reporting the handle breaking or jamming.

Does the weight of the bag count towards the 7 kg cabin limit?

Yes, and it is the most overlooked number in the category. The 7 kg is the bag plus its contents, weighed at the counter. A 2.2 kg case leaves you 4.8 kg to pack. A 3.92 kg case leaves you 3.08 kg. That gap is a change of clothes and a pair of shoes. Listings understate the figure too, so weigh yours when it arrives.
